Earnest “Leroy” Foster, age 68, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, November 9, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest with Pastor Terry Ray officiating. Interment to follow in Provence Cemetery, Carter County, Okla.
Leroy was born on April 29, 1948, to Manuel Leroy Foster and Margaret (Gann) Foster at Ardmore, Okla. He attended Mount Washington School in Ardmore, Okla. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country from 1967 to 1969 during the Vietnam War. Leroy married Lucille “Pete” Hughes on November 12, 1968, at Ardmore, Okla. He worked for the City of Ardmore as an animal control and was a truck driver for Blue Bonnet and the cookie factory until he took a job with Carter County, District One. Leroy worked and then retired after 20 plus years of service. In his youth, he enjoyed riding horses and working on cars. Leroy loved doing any kind of wood work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild, and three brothers: Jimmy Foster, Richard Foster, and Donnie Perry.
Leroy is survived by seven daughters: Shanna Preston, Peggy McCarty, Margaret Alvizo, Frances Foster, Earnesdean Foster, April Wallace, and Gail Coronado, all of Ardmore, Okla. One grandson Manuel DeLaRosa, who he raised as his son. Twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. One brother, seven sisters, and two special nieces: Rhonda Tidwell and Lawanna Willis.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Stinson, Randy Stinson, Randy Sanders, Jimmy Foster, Tyler Perry, and Troyce Williamson.
Family will receive guests on Tuesday evening, November 8, 2016, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home of Ardmore, Okla.
