Jeffery Charles Hunt, age 41, passed away on January 3, 2017, surrounded by his family at his parents’ home in Lone Grove, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January 7, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home with Father Thomas Dowdell officiating.
Jeff was born on April 26, 1975, in Ardmore, Okla., to Thomas Hunt and Shelia (Acox) Hunt. Jeff was a graduate of the Class of 1993 at Lone Grove High School. He went on to attend Southeastern Oklahoma State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Jeff married Julie Schumacher in 2001 and they moved to Yukon, Okla. He worked for the Diamondback Correctional Facility in Watonga, Okla., as the Recreational Director. He returned to Lone Grove and began working as a Salesman for City Produce of Ardmore and then as a Tool Salesman for Halliburton Tools. The marriage ended in 2012. He worked in Inventory Control for Dot Foods and most recently as a Tire Builder for Michelin. Jeff enjoyed being outside with his children. He loved hunting, fishing, water skiing, and riding ATVs in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cy and Ann Hunt, and Doug and Mable Acox.
Jeff is survived by his two sons: Mason Hunt and Landry Hunt, father, Thomas Hunt, mother, Shelia Hunt, sister, Tera Hunt, and brother, Gregory Hunt. Aunts: Sherrie Pierce and husband, Bill, Sandy Acox, Liz Hunt, Joy Sloan, Sue Laswell, and Amy Banks, uncles: Doug Acox, Jr., and wife, Teresa, and Jerry Acox and wife, Debbie, nephew, Sean Hunt, and niece, Winter Garmon.
Serving as honorary bearers will be Greg Hunt, Brandon Covington, Brent Hackney, Jason Jackson, Sean Hunt, Wesley Schumacher, and Jody Duvak.
A rosary will be held on Friday evening at 5:30 pm and visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, January 6, 2017, at The Chapel in Griffin~Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
