Obituary of Richard Vann Williams

Richard Vann Williams, age 50, passed away on May 27, 2017, at Antlers, Okla.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 2, 2017, at The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Scott Battice officiating. Interment to follow at Nelda Cemetery.

Richard was born on June 26, 1966, at the Talihina Indian Hospital, in Talihina, Okla. to Carter Williams and Joyce Ann (Thomas) Williams. He graduated from culinary school in 1985. He was a KBA cook and often volunteered to cook at many gatherings at Durwood Baptist Church, where he was a member. He was very proud and honored to be able to feed so many wonderful people. He would like to thank the Choctaws and Chickasaws for helping him with his medical expenses and aiding him in many different ways. And a special thank you to Loretta Simon for all your help. “Anson, I love you, keep smiling, be happy, and please, stay in church.” Richard has gone home. Home to be with his Lord and gone home to see his Mama and Daddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carter Williams and Joyce Ann (Thomas) Williams, both of Dickson, Okla.

Richard is survived by his brother, Anson Williams, of Dickson, Okla., uncle, Bobby Gene Thomas, of Ardmore, Okla., second Mother, Liza Jane Thomas of Ardmore, and numerous cousins.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Gilbert Nevarez, James Carnes, Gene Gibson, Tommy Garcia, Stanly John, Christian Tubbee and Mike Thomas.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.
