Obituary of Gene Conway
Gene Conway, age 88, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, in Ardmore, Okla. He lived his life taking care of others. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest with Pastor Terry Tolbert officiating. Interment to follow services in Hillcrest Memorial Park of Ardmore.
Gene was born on October 7, 1929, to Commie and Lela (Nix) Conway, in Berwin, Okla. He married Miss Patricia Jackson on March 14, 1953, at Northeast Baptist Church in Ardmore. Gene grew up in the Dickson area and attended school there. After high school, he attended Murray State College. Following college, he spent time in Germany when he was in the US Army. Gene worked for the Noble Foundation for 40 years conducting cancer research until he retired. He loved his Lord, church and family. Gene was a longtime member and Deacon of Trinity Baptist Church of Ardmore, where he led singing and worked with the young people. He also coached baseball and basketball for several years. He always had cows and a garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Patricia Conway in 2011; two brothers, Frank Conway and Howard Conway; two sisters, Louise Stephens and Bernice Grey; four nephews: Michael Jackson, John Marshall, Tandy Marshall, and Bob Conway; and niece, Mary Stephens.
Gene is survived by his sons: Ronnie Conway, and wife, Rita, of Ardmore, and Gary Conway, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Marisa Conway of San Antonio, Texas, Kelvin Conway, and wife, Megan, their children, Ethan, Morgan, and Lucas, all of Ardmore, and Deirdre Conway, of Houston, Texas, and her daughters, Mika and Aiyana; sister, Nadean Marshall, of Wyoming; brother-in-law, Lamar Jackson, and wife, Beverly, of Sherman, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Rita Conway and Nelda Conway; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. We all love and will miss him.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Birchbickler, Gary Simmons, Boyd Howell, Rodney Shields, Frankie Hall, Herb Upchurch, Wilbur Whittle, Les Jackson, David Lowden, Tony Choate, Rick Choate, and Jeremy McDonald.

A visitation will be held on Monday evening, November 6, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Griffin~Hillcrest.
