Obituary of Leora Lutts Johnston
Leora Bell Lutts Johnston, age 88, passed away at her home in Ardmore, Okla., on Friday, June 15, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Baum Assembly of God Church with Rev. Bradley Buchanan officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.
Leora was born on February 9, 1930, in Centrahoma, Okla., to King David Holman and Mae (Talkington) Holman. She married Gene Lutts. The couple lived in Sulphur, Okla., for a time. In 1957, they moved to Ardmore where they owned and operated Lake Side and Ardmore Convalescent Homes. After Gene’s passing, Leora married Sam C. Johnston on Oct. 3, 1998, in Ardmore, Okla. The couple lived in Hogden, Okla., until 2009 when they returned to Ardmore. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, United States Daughters of 1812, and Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Leora was active in the Ardmore Garden Club, Friends of the Goddard, Oklahoma Historical Society, and the Great Southwest Museum. She also belonged to the Baum Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands: Gene Lutts and Sam Johnston, son, Greg Lutts, brother, Harold Holman, sister, Opal Lee Hess, and nephew, Harold Jean Hughs.
Leora is survived by her son, Guy Lutts, nephews: Tommy Hughes and wife, Rene’ Transue, and Corky Dean Holman and wife, Linda, and nieces: Dava Moore and husband, Larry, and Mona Hughes. Numerous nieces and nephews, and friends and extended family.
