Obituary of Lawrence Edward Conway
Lawrence Edward Conway, age 87, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, October 15, 2018, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest with Pastor Bruce Kirby of Southwest Baptist Church officiating.
Lawrence was born in Berwyn, Okla., on January 21, 1931, to Herbert Mack Conway and Ola Mae (Gunzolus) Conway. He attended school in Berwyn and then Ardmore schools. Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army on July 1, 1952, where he served in Korea and was Honorably Discharged achieving the rank of Corporal on March, 31, 1954. He married Imogene Conway on March 1, 1952, at Ardmore. He drove a milk truck for Colbert’s Dairy and later took a position as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Services, from which he retired in 1977. Lawrence loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing. He will also be remembered for his skill at playing dominoes. He was a very dedicated member of Southwest Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and as Treasurer for many years. He loved his Lord, his church, his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Imogene Conway, sister, Darlene Huff, and three brothers: Richard Conway, Fred Conway, and James Conway.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Danny Conway, and wife, Susan, of Lone Grove, Okla., and daughter, Gena Conway Williams Minyard of Ardmore. Grandchildren: Cheri Conway of Mansfield, Texas, Jeffrey Williams of Ardmore, Toni Conway of Dickson, Okla., and Richard Minyard of Tatum, Okla. Eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. Sister, Diane Tibbs of Dickson, and brother, Roger Conway and wife, Pat, of Ardmore.
