Obituary of Juanita Yates Nicodemus
Juanita Yates Nicodemus, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest of Ardmore with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Juanita was born on August 23, 1925, to Joe Lowe and Viola (Johnson) Lowe. She married Harry O. “Nic” Nicodemus III on July 12, 1974. She worked as a secretary for 34 years. She enjoyed sports of all types, including bowling and golfing, but most of all water skiing and shooting archery. Juanita was active in scouting, volunteering her time as a den mother with the Cub Scouts. With her assistance, her son Randy was able to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. She was a longtime member of Lake View Golf Club and Lakeview Ladies Association, where she and Nic enjoyed playing golf. Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was involved in Sunday School, Bible Study and “Young at Hearts”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers and one sister.
Juanita is survived by her son, Randall W. Yates, and wife, Maureen, granddaughter, Kelly Yates, all of Long Beach, California, step-son, Harry O. Nicodemus IV, and wife, Diane, their children: Kristin Nicodemus, and Harry O. Nicodemus V of Katy, Texas.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Randall W. Yates, Gary Cummings, John Beene, Craig McMurray, and Chris McMurray.
