Obituary of Carol Morse

Carolyn (Burnes) Morse, age 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Ardmore, Okla. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest of Ardmore. Cremation under the direction of Hillcrest Crematory.

Carol was born on September 18, 1942, at Hobart, Oklahoma. The only child of Ray Kincannon Burnes and Thelma Irene (Adkison) Burnes. She graduated from Hobart High School in the Class of 1960 and attended Murray State College and East Central University in the 1970s.  Carol was a born-again Christian of the Pentecostal Faith and was baptized on February 8, 1953, at First Baptist Church of Hobart.

She and her four sons moved to Ardmore in 1974. Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Swanner & Chambers, CPAs, and for Valley Hope. She retired from Memorial Hospital in 1996.  Carol married her best friend and love of her life, Rick Morse, on August 27, 1983. She shared their love of country living and raising animals and gardens with their children and grandchildren. Most of all, they enjoyed the company of family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Ray and Thelma Burnes; grandparents, J.H. and Ona (Wair) Adkison; and her beloved sons: Donny and Bobby Payne, in 2005, and Tony Payne in 2017.

Carol is survived by her husband, Rick of the home; sons: Joey Payne of Durant, Okla., and Chris Morse of Stillwater, Okla.; grandchildren: Erika, Samantha, and Maddisyn Payne, and Tallyn Morse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clay and June Williams, Greg Morse, Hank and Wendy Morse, Charles and Janie Goodson, Beverly Morse, and Carolyn Payne; uncle, J.O. Adkison, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
