Obituary of Leona Wright

Leona Wright, age 94 passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2019, surrounded by her family at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 5, 2019, in The Chapel in Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore.

Leona was born July 11, 1924, in Ardmore to Charles Parrott and Leah (Stewart) Parrott. She was raised in Ardmore where she met LeRoy Wright and the couple was married on September 19, 1948, in Gainesville, Texas. They lived in Ardmore where she took a position with Sam’s Meat Market and then worked for Oklahoma Health Services in

Welfare Intervention Department and cleaned houses on the side. She also worked in private health care for many families in the Ardmore area. She would spend her time crocheting and playing bingo. Leona enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels that she would feed.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Leo Parrott and Clifford Parrott.

Leona is survived by her daughter, Brenda Nipp Edwards of Healdton, Okla. Grandchildren; Brandon Nipp of Healdton, Dakota Nipp of Norman, Okla,. and Makayla Nipp of Ada, Okla.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Brandon Nipp, Dakota Nipp, Jacob Birdshead, Nicholas Parrott, Qintin Parrott, and Jake Lindsey

Visitation will be on Thursday evening April 4, 2019 from 6:00pm for 8:00pm at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.
