Obituary of Lestine Shorter

Lestine (Patton) Shorter, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Wilson, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, July 2, 2016, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Chaplain Matt Benedict officiating. Services will conclude in The Chapel with private interment to follow in McAlister Cemetery. Lestine was born on March 16, 1931, to Elzy Qutman “E.Q.” Patton and Mattie Pearl (Stinnett) Patton, at Marietta, Okla. She married William “Bill” Shorter on December 15, 1952. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William “Bill” Shorter, three brothers: Paul Patton, Bill Patton, and Lawrence Patton, two sisters: Hazel Riddle and Earnestine Faulkner, and two infant children. Adopted grandson Trever Kallie Morgan. Lestine is survived by two sons: Kenneth Shorter, and wife, Lonna, and Carl Shorter, and wife, Lucy, three daughters: Sandra Barnes, and husband, Joe, Deborah Palmore, and Margie Roberts, and husband, Charlie, ten grandchildren: Danny Shorter, Joey Shorter, Ginger Baker Hudson, Sandy Baker, Jeremy Shorter, Brandon Shorter, Michael Shorter, Bradley Shorter, Jason Roberts, and Justin Roberts, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one brother, R.L. Patton. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jeremy Shorter, Brandon Shorter, Michael Shorter, Bradley Shorter, Jason Roberts, and Justin Roberts. Honorary bearers will be Danny Shorter, Joey Shorter, Ginger Baker Hudson, Sandy Baker, and Eddie Askew. The family would like to give a special thank you to Cross Timbers Hospice and Wilson Nursing home for the care of their loved one Lestine. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to give donations may make them to Cross Timbers Hospice, 207 C St NW, Ardmore, OK 73401, or to Wilson Nursing Center, 867 US-70 ALT, Wilson, OK 73463. Family visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
