Obituary of Peggy Lea Jones

Peggy Lea Jones, age 63, passed away on February 10, 2020, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, February 15, 2020, at McLish Avenue Church of Christ with Minister Bob Smee officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Peggy was born in Springfield, MO., on February 3, 1957, to Lawrence Weatherman and Jessie (Gilleland) Weatherman. She was a graduate of Central High School with the Class of 1975. She went on to Nursing School and received her CNA. She moved to Bremerton, WA., in 1978, where she worked as a CNA at local nursing homes. She then took a position as a private Nanny for Dennis Burkley. Peggy met Ronald through her sister, Mary and her husband Rick, in their home in Spring Valley, CA. Peggy married Ronald Jones on December 13, 1980, in Spring Valley, CA. The couple moved to Ardmore in January of 1982, where she took a job at Sonic on Grand where she worked for ten years and then at Winn-Dixie in the deli. She then became a fulltime homemaker. She was an avid John Wayne fan. Peggy loved classical and horror movies. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Peggy is survived by her husband, Ronald Jones of the home, three sons, William Jones, of Wilson, Okla., George Jones, and wife, Elizabeth, of Arlington TX., and Daniel Jones of Ardmore. Two granddaughters; Abaigael Jones and Evelynn Jones, of Nobel, Okla., two sisters, Pam McHaffie, and husband, J.L., of Brunner, MO., and Mary Warner, and husband, Rick, of Republic, MO., two brothers, John Weatherman, and wife, Toni, of Greenwell Springs, LA., and Randy Weatherman, and wife, Bobbi, of Mountain View, MO. Numerus nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Those serving as pallbearers will be Sean Bugbee, Martin Dotson, Terry Waller, Ronnie Byrd, FA Shellenberger, Steve Mann and Keven Lewis. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Friday, February 14, 2020 at Griffin ~ Hillcrest.
