Obituary of Robert Edwin Vaughn

Robert Edwin Vaughn, age 79, passed away on February 16, 2020, in Ardmore, Okla. Family will have a gathering and visitation on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest. Cremation to follow under the direction of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory. Robert was born in Ardmore, Okla., on November 1, 1940, to Harry Alvin Vaughn and Cora Rebecca Frances Emily (Strother) Vaughn. He attended Ardmore City Schools. Robert enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 1958 and served until January 31, 1966, receiving his honorable discharge. He married Dovie Neasbitt on in 1961 in Ardmore and from this union came their four children and later that marriage ended. Robert worked at the Ardmore Veterans Center as a nurse’s aide and then moved to the maintenance department. He married Carol Ann Mize in 1986 in Ardmore. He retired in 2003 after thirty-two years of service. Robert loved to go fishing but he will be remembered for his love of singing and would love to sing Karaoke. He loved attending church and was a member since its consecration. He served as an usher for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harry Vaughn and one sister, Freda Ramsey. Robert is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Vaughn, four children; Karen Butler, Rebecca Cruz, and husband, Severo, Jerry Vaughn, and wife, Deanna, and Frances Manning, and husband, Danny, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, two brothers, James Vaughn and Jerry Vaughn, and wife, Dean and a host of family and friends.
