Obituary of Herman Wesley Watkins

Herman Wesley “Cooney” Watkins, age 87, passed away on February 17, 2020, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, February 24, 2020, at Provence Cemetery. Wesley was born on September 8, 1932, to Sam Watkins and Sara (Johnson) Watkins. He married Roxie Shockley in 1955 and from this union came his son, Buddy, and then he married Carolyn Lee and from this union came his daughter, Shelly. Wesley was self-employed as a Mechanic. He married Ora Mae Smith, on December 21, 1979. He later worked as a mechanic for Ardmore Trailer and Ardmore Dragway. He was a true fisherman and would fish anytime he could. Wesley loved to have big fish fries with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ora Mae Watkins, two sisters: Peggy Holley, and Alice Gentry. Five brothers: Buddy Watkins, Odell Watkins, Neal Watkins, John Watkins and Haskell Watkins. Wesley is survived by son, Manuel “Buddy” Watkins, and wife, Ann, daughter, Shelly Watkins, grandchildren; Manuel Watkins and wife, Velena, and Amanda Watkins, and two great-grandchildren; Trevor Witt, and Jasmine Witt. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
