Obituary of Joyce Emogene (Thompson) Thomison

Joyce Emogene (Thompson) Thomison, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 27, 2020, at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Tanner officiating.
Emogene was born on March 6, 1930, to James Clayton Thompson and Maud Lee (Smith) Thompson. She attended and graduated from Springer High School in the Class of 1947. She went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator. Emogene married Herbert Troy “Doodle” Thomison in June of 1950. She moved from telephone operator to working at the Southwestern Bell Credit Union. Emogene was promoted and moved into management and was in charge of job assignment in the construction side at Southwestern Bell. She retired in 1984 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Emogene always looked forward to the retired SWB monthly breakfast to be with her friends. She was an avid supporter of QVC. Spending time with her family brought Emogene her greatest joy. She would love to go out about the town with her two best friends, Nona and Paulette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughters, Peggy Cooper and Donna Thomison, granddaughter, Amanda Mills, great-granddaughter, Rayshell Hunter, sister, Clara Martin, brother, Eugene Thompson, sister, Lois, and brother-in-law, Jim Mills.
Emogene is survived by her daughters: Connie Sims, Lisa Miller, and husband, Terry, son-in-law Bob Cooper, grandchildren: Kristi Hunter, Stacy Hunter, Tracy Hunter, Robert Goff Jr, Eddie Sims, Brittany Bridgman, Jason Thomison, Beth Davis, Daniel Grayson, Michael Grayson, and Chris Grayson. Thirty-two great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. Her special friends, Nona Harrison Evitts of 65 years, Paulette Davis of 52 years, and a host of family and friends.
