Nasaria “ Nicky” Elliott, age 79, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016, at her home in Ardmore, Okla., surrounded by her family. Mass will be given at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 30, 2016, with Father Thomas Dowdell officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla., all under the direction of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Nicky was born on July 28, 1937, to Abraham Sanchez and Sarah Castillo in Lampasas, Texas. She moved to Ardmore, Okla., in 1961 and took a position with Cooks Laundry for a short time and also worked for several of the nursing homes in the area and earned her Certified Nurse’s Aide license. Nicky began working at the Ardmore Veteran’s Center in 1994 and continued until she retired as a Senior Nurse in 2007. She was an avid Texas Rangers fan and watched all of the games. She enjoyed being outside and working in her flower garden. When given the chance, she loved to play bingo. Nicky’s grandchildren were her joy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
Nicky is survived by her four daughters: Gloria Woodruff of Ardmore, Sophia McGee and husband Tony of Ardmore, Josie of San Saba TX., , and Melanie Umphrey and husband, Jerome, of Norman, Okla. Three sons: Charles Ray Meredith Jr. of Healdton, Okla., Christopher John Morales of Ardmore, and Anthony Paul Meredith Sr. of Ardmore. 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Sister, Louise, and four brothers: Sylvano Sr., Paul and wife, Stella, Mike and wife, Mancha, and Tony and wife, Olga. Longtime friend and sister-at-heart, Faye Taylor, and a host of family and friends.
Prayer services will be held on Tuesday evening, November 29, 2016, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore, Okla., with Pastor Ted Clark Jr. officiating.
