Obituary of Jimmy E. Wright

Jimmy E. Wright, age 77, passed away on October 30, 2016, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Bob Lee to officiate. A long time Ardmore resident, Jimmy was born on September 19, 1939 to the late Valter Wright Mitchell and stepfather, Buck Mitchell, at Fox, Okla. Jimmy was a graduate of Fox Schools, class of 1958. He worked for Nance Pecan Company for 20 plus years and then took a job with Joe Brown Company as a mechanic and he worked there until his retirement. Jimmy was an active member of the community. In his retirement, he donated his time at Mercy of Ardmore Hospital, where he was known by many as the "Popcorn Man". Jimmy always tried to put a smile on your face. He was very dedicated to his work as well as his family. He was always there to help, no matter who you were or where you were at. As a blood donor Jimmy donated 335 times, 41 and one half gallons of blood at the Oklahoma Blood Bank and helped to save over 1006 lives. Those wishing to give donations please donate blood in his name at the Oklahoma Blood Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Evelyn Wright. Jimmy is survived by four daughters and son in laws; Terry and Brian Smithey, of Alva, Wendy and Terry Fitch, of Oklahoma City, Angela and Kenneth Caldwell, of Ardmore, Toni and Rick Morgan, of Ardmore. Jimmy had fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, siblings, as well as many other family members and friends. The family will greet visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Griffin-Hillcrest Funeral Home in Ardmore, Okla.
