Obituary of Dan Edward Blanton

Dan Edward Blanton, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 10, 2016, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ardmore, Okla., with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Interment to follow in Provence Cemetery, Ardmore, Okla. Dan was born on November 3, 1934, at Ardmore, Okla., to John H. Blanton and Vera Vivian (Love) Blanton. He attended school at Washington and Ardmore schools. Dan served his country in the United States Army. He received his honorable discharge and returned to Ardmore, Okla. Dan married Miss Vada Fay Shockley in November of 1959 at Ardmore, Okla. He worked as a brick mason throughout Ardmore and Carter County. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Ardmore. He enjoyed watching his westerns, Atlanta Braves baseball, and most any football. Dan loved spending time with his family and he was an avid fisherman. He was born to fish and forced to work. Dan’s family will remember him as being the best dad anyone could ask for. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Oscar Blanton, sister, Vivian Kent, and nephew, Casey Mahagan, Daughter in-law Bennie Blanton. Dan is survived by his wife, Fay Blanton, of the home. Children: Danny Blanton, Allen and Kim Blanton, John Russel Blanton, Vera and Brian Sexton, Brenda Baker, Shirley Parker, and Valerie Hudson and Lee. Brothers: Junior and Virginia Blanton, Jackie Blanton, and Turman Blanton, and brother-in-law, Billy Kent. Twenty-one grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Numerus nieces and nephews and a host of family and friend. Dan’s grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, May 9, 2016m at Griffin ~ Hillcrest, Ardmore, Okla.
