Obituary of Douglas Brown

Douglas Neal “Buck” Brown, age 70, passed away on August 29, 2021, in Ardmore, Okla. Graveside services will be 10:30am, Thursday, September 2, 2021 in Rose Hill Cemetery with The Reverend Steve Skinner officiating. Buck was born on March 29, 1951, to Leslie Neal Brown and Ethel B. (Brumley) Brown in Corpus Christi, TX. His family moved to Ardmore in the 60’s and he attended Ardmore Schools. He married Judy Holybee on September 23, 1968, in Gainesville, TX. Over the years Buck was a heavy equipment driver for the Pipelines, a truck driver and a concrete salesman. After his retirement, he was well known for small engine repair for lawnmowers. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on trucks and planting a garden yearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, John Wesley Skinner Jr., and sister, Debra K. Brown. Douglas is survived by his wife, Judy Brown, daughter, Connie Skinner and husband John, son, Douglas W. Brown, daughter, Debora Newsom and husband Christopher, one grandson, Matthew Skinner, five granddaughters, Megan Brown, Dakota Brown, Sierra Newsom, Ashley Brown and Nicole Brown, eight great-granddaughters, two great-grandsons, and favorite niece and team player, Tracy Hess. Two sisters, Carol Upton and Liz Cryer, and three brothers, Tommy Brown, Richard “Jack” Brown and Jim Brown. Those serving as casket bearers will be; Logan Yowell, Matthew Skinner, Christopher Newsom, Ryan Stewart and Justin Holybee. Honorary bearers will be John Skinner Sr., Dakota Brown and Shelton Tyer. A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.griffinhillcrest.com.
