Obituary of Thomas Howard Carter

Thomas Howard Carter, age 84, passed away on September 2, 2021, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest. Cremation services to follow under the care of Hillcrest Crematory. Lovingly known as “Pops”; Thomas was born on January 20, 1937, to Albert Howard Carter and Opal Ozell (Tables) Carter in Russett, Okla. in a converted railroad box cared for by a midwife on Chapman Ranch. He skipped school in 3rd grade. He went to work for Chevrolet House in Tishomingo, Durant, Madill, and Woody Ford as a mechanic. Pops continued even in his retirement working on small engine repairs. He loved to gamble and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rosa Marie Nash, and two brothers; Edward Carter and Jimmy Carter. Thomas is survived by his children, Thomas Glenn Carter, of Ardmore, Edna Carol Marshall, and Joseph Howard Carter, grandchildren; Jeremy Marshall, Stephanie Marshall, Jay Marshall, Gary Wilsie, Justin Wilsie, Justin Howard, Kayla Howard, and Ashley Tapp, and nineteen great- grandchildren.
