Alta (Camp) Parker, age 94, passed away on March 23, 2022, in Ardmore, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Donny Custar officiating. Private committal to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Alta was born in Wilson, Okla. on September 9, 1927, to Hampton Camp and Gladys (Smith) Camp. She attended Parker Hill, Springdale, and Dickson Schools but she graduated from Gene Autry Schools. Alta worked for Cooks Laundry and was a cook at a local restaurant. Alta retired from the work force after she married Elmo Parker on June 23, 1954 in Gainesville, TX. She then devoted her life to her family’s care. Alta loved to cook; she will be remembered for her fried pies, sewing and making her children’s clothes. She loved making quilts for her children and grandchildren. Alta liked to crochet and embroidery, and keeping a spotless house. In her younger years, she loved to go camping, having hen parties and going to garage sales with her sisters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Parker, daughter, Debora Kay Sullivan, son, Jimmy Dale Parker, grandson, Darren Parker, granddaughter Tammy Frech, sisters, Eva Beatrice Duane, Loeta McConnell, Dorothy Maxwell, Corena Bridgeman, Margaret Aycox, Vallie Cecil and Sina Covington, and brother, Roy Camp.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Phelps, son, Clarence Parker and wife Karen, six grandchildren: Charley, Kevin, Jason, Erik, Chad, and Brandon, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brother, Weldon Camp, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
