Obituary of Raymond Lee Johnson

Raymond Lee Johnson, age 98, passed away on February 8, 2023, in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at The Church of Christ on Merrick Drive. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Raymond was born on January 29, 1925, to Doyle and Willie (Cole) Johnson, in Lindsay, Oklahoma. He was born the youngest of seven with three brothers and three sisters. Raymond graduated High School in Elmore City and farmed with his father until he married Miss LaVerna Ragan on June 23, 1945 and they had two daughters, Sue and Ann. Ann passed away in 1966. Raymond went to work for Quanah Acme Pacific Railway and enjoyed 35 years of dispatching trains. He married Miss E’Beth Toland Poskey in March of 2003, in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was a member of The Church of Christ and served as an elder for several years. After they moved to Ardmore, he spent more than 15 years teaching Bible classes at Merrick Drive, but also weekly he taught classes at Ardmore Village, Elmbrook Nursing Home, and several service organizations like The Lion Club. He loved his family, friends, and his Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and daughter, Ann. Raymond is survived by his wife of 20 years, E’Beth, daughter, Sue, grandsons, Rick, Jon, and Adam and their wives and children, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Rick Bailey, Randy Bailey, Jon Bailey, Adam Bailey, Elijah Bailey, Nolan Bailey, Chuck Bramwell and Brandon Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Raymond’s name to The Church of Christ on Merrick Drive for local Missions at 1951 Merrick Dr., Ardmore, OK 73401. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, February 13, 2023 at Griffin~ Hillcrest.
