I spent so many days of my childhood at Pak-A-Sak with my PaPa(Gene Howard). Although, I am sure it was many fewer days than you guys spent up there! It was always so neat to be at the store, as we were always welcome to eat all the candy that we could fit in our little bellies, and when Papa would say that is enough sugar, I remember Jerrel would just sneak us a few pieces of candy behind the counter and stick it in our pockets. The smell of that store, I can still remember it today! The memories I have of being at that store are too numerous to tell, but just know that he was such a wonderful man, and all of the memories I have of him I just recall of kindness and of the fondest! I occasionally feared, getting locked into the cooler where they had the meat hanging, but aside from that, all of my memories we’re just precious! I am so sorry for your loss, and our love and prayers are with you all! If any of you guys should happen to come across the chili recipe from the store, please share it with me. By the time Papa got sick, he was unable to recall any of the recipe essentially. I would give anything to have that recipe again! We love you guys, and are praying for all of you!
