Obituary of Douglas Wayne Odell

Douglas Wayne Odell, 56, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, Oklahoma, with Pastor Brett Alberta leading the services. Cremation with care under the direction of Griffin~Hillcrest Crematory, Ardmore. Doug was born in Jay, Oklahoma, on January 1, 1967, to Andy and Doris Odell. Doug grew up and went to elementary school in Ganado, Arizona, and loved the childhood adventures he had there on the rez with his many school friends. He moved to Ardmore with family in 1981 and attended and played football for Ardmore High School from 9th grade until he graduated. He attended OU long enough to become a huge Sooner fan. For much of his adult life he worked as a truck driver doing cross-country hauls and also as a regional driving for the fuel industry. He loved to fish and camp, play cards and board games, and spend time with family while still healthy enough to do so. His father Andy preceded him in death along with his brother Kenneth, and sister Andrea. Doug is survived by his son, Matthew, granddaughter, Aurora, mother, Doris, and sister, Cynthia, as well as many extended family members and friends. Doug will be remembered fondly by the many people whose lives he touched, and although he will be missed, we will all be comforted knowing he is in heaven with our Savior, Jesus.
