Obituary of Robert Berry Jr.

Robert Berry Jr., age 92, passed away on December 3, 2023, in Ardmore, Okla. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 16, 2023, in The Chapel at Griffin ~ Hillcrest. Cremation with care under the direction of Griffin ~ Hillcrest Crematory of Ardmore. Robert was born in Anton, Texas on April 20, 1931, to Robert Berry, Sr. and Juanita Norris (Smith) Berry. He graduated from Ardmore Douglas High School and went on to attend Auto Body School where he attended and graduated. He returned to Ardmore where he worked for various body shops. Robert married the love of his life, Sara Ann Lamey, on September 24, 1956, a union that would last 62 wonderful years. In 1962, he opened Robert Berry’s Auto Body Shop. Robert was an avid gun collector and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sara Ann Berry, son, Robert Berry III, daughter, Drucilla Berry, brother, Burford Berry, and sister, Ida Mae Harris. Robert is survived by his step-son, Oliver Gaines and wife, Arleta Gaines, grandchildren, Shantel Berry, Oliver Craig Gaines, Robert G. Gaines, Keisha Willis, Marcellus Smith and Darrius Cohee, and a host of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sister-in-laws; Frances Benson, Ola Mae Kemp, and Vera Benson, brother-in-law, William Lamey Jr., two nieces, one nephew and a host of family.
