Obituary of Pat Brokeshoulder-Walters

Pat Brokeshoulder-Walters, age 76, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023, in Tulsa, Okla. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 3, 2023, at McAlister Cemetery with The Reverend Jay Mule officiating. Pat was born on September 26, 1946, in Ardmore, Okla. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rena (Rasha) Brokeshoulder. Pat graduated from Dickson High School in 1965. She went on to attend and graduate from Draughon’s Business College in 1968, in Dallas, TX. After graduating, she worked in Data Entry for Dallas Police Dept. It was then she met her forever husband, Dave, and was happily married for 41 years. Pat was proud of her children and her other son, Ruben Watan, who proudly has served his time in the Army. Pat was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and a member of Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church in Little Axe, Okla. She was also a former member of Ardmore Indian Baptist Church for many years as a little girl, where her husband was ordained as a Deacon. She enjoyed watching her OKC Thunder basketball, watch OU games, especially when her grandson, David, played in the OU Band, and watch her western tv shows. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Floyd Brokeshoulder and Eugene Brokeshoulder. Pat is survived by her sons, Brian Walters, Reuben Watan; daughters, Rainey Walters-Colbert, and Renda Walters; grandsons, Ryan and David Colbert, and one sister, Serena Underwood. Pat had many grandchildren all over and numerous nieces and nephews in the big Brokeshoulder family. She touched the lives of many and shall never be forgotten for her strength and compassion for others. Casket bearers will be Ryan Colbert, David Colbert, Brian Walters, Brent Underwood, Eli Brokeshoulder, and Russell Colbert. A viewing will be from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home.
